AVIDFort Braden is proud to be an AVID school!
What is AVID? Advancement Via Individual Determination Your child has the unique opportunity to learn a way of work that not only prepares him/her for college, but also provides valuable organizational skills that can be carried on throughout schooling and beyond! AVID supports a growth mindset and is a research based program. Your child will be required to keep a well-organized binder that is purposeful & necessary to complete homework & daily tasks. This binder will be checked weekly in order for students to take ownership of their learning. Your child will also be learning note-taking, how to collaborate with peers, and higher order thinking skills to prepare them for their future-be it for next year or their college and career! |
WALK TO READ Your child will be receiving daily reading intervention and enrichment services based on their individual comprehension level. They will see one of the third grade teachers for 40 minutes a day to receive reading comprehension skills as well as test prep strategies for the FSA. This time is specific to their needs and a great opportunity to practice reading skills with new peers and teachers!
